Students have been reading a book for Accelerated Reader since the beginning of the new semester. They should be earning at least 8 AR points by Monday, February 10. They can take the AR test in Advisory any day this week for the book they chose to read. 

Attendance Update - Signed by Parent

 

Please review and sign the attendance update sent home with each student today. 

 

Students please return the signed attendance update by Friday, January 31. 

 

PSAT Scores sent home today. No need to sign anything to return. This is just notification that the scores were released and sent home today. Congratulations to everyone who took it, and a job well done. 

Nobel is currently holding its annual MEND drive. MEND stands for meet each need with dignity, and is a non-profit organization that collects donations for less fortunate families. The drive ends Friday, December 13. You can donate non-perishable foods, blankets, clothes, toys, or anything that can help for the holidays. We are only allowed to accept new items. The advisory class from each grade that donates the most will receive a pizza party at the end of the drive. What you donate might be a child’s only gift for the holiday season, and your donations will be greatly appreciated by so many people. Thank you for considering donating.

15 Week Progress Report - GPA Worksheet in Planner 

 

Students, if you have not yet completed the 15 Week Progress Report GPA Worksheet in your planner, please do so. Have it ready to show me tomorrow (Friday) to check off. 

 

This worksheet is called the "10 Week" in your planner, and we used it for 15 week this time. 

A few updates/reminders for our Advisory class

 

10 Week Progress Report - Signed:
This is a friendly reminder to please have your parent(s) sign your 10 Wk Progress Report, and bring it in to show me on Monday.

 

Schoology Check:
Please take a moment to look over your assignments in Schoology for Advisory. Check to see if you're missing anything, and how you should remedy it. You're welcome to message me here on Schoology with any questions. Schoology is easier to answer your questions about assignments (which is usually paperwork) and I can give you my full attention when addressing it.

 

Update AR Notebook Log:
On Monday, please be sure you've updated the AR Notebook Log with your current book. I really hope you've chosen something you're enjoying reading. If you're not enjoying your book, please take a few minutes this coming week to stop by the library whether at school or perhaps the public library. I hope you can find a genre, topic, or series that you'll enjoy.

 

AR Points and Deadline:
A minimum of 16 AR points are to be earned by the end of this semester. (8-points for the first half, and 8-points for the second half, total 16-pts).

The very last day to take an AR test for this semester will be Thursday, December 12. Please plan ahead for this date. The AR quiz must be taken during Advisory, and signed off my me. If you're doing AR in your English class, see me.

Be sure you're reading the book carefully enough to understand it. It can be easy to let your mind wander. This is why I hope you find a book/series you enjoy reading! :)

 

Going to other classrooms during Advisory:
If you need to go to a different classroom to see a teacher during our Advisory period, please be sure to bring a pass from that teacher, and check in with me before going there so our attendance can be correctly submitted.

 

Backpack Clean-out and Organization:
I'm going to implement a once a week Backpack Clean Out and Organization time. It will be a time for you to quietly go through your backpack and folders. You can get rid of trash, straighten out your papers, get them organized, get rid of old fliers, etc. You are also going to be able to go over your Planner during this time. We'll be doing this on Thursdays after we watch CNN 10. Please bring your backpacks on Thursdays.

*If you are already registered on the "Parent Portal" for parental access to Schoology, I've already updated the points for this assignment as of 9/15/19, and there's no need to worry about this message (unless you need to reset your pin, see below).

 

 

Nobel would like all parents registered and able to log into the Parent Portal Schoology program. Those students' parent(s) who are already registered, I have entered the points for this small parent communication assignment. If there are no points listed on Schoology for this assignment in your child's grade, please ask them about registering. I have shown them where to find the instructions. If you run into any hiccups along the way (the process is a bit cumbersome) the Attendance Office can get you in touch with someone to help you finish the registration process.

 

 

When you've registered and logged in to see your child's grades, please have your child (or you) send me a message on Schoology (or email) to let me know you've successfully registered. This way I know to go double check on my end and can then enter the points into their Schoology account. Unfortunately the system doesn't send me a notification that you've completed the registration. Either way I'll check in again to see if anyone has registered next weekend. But if you're concerned about the points being entered, please just send me a message to notify me you've completed it.
