Principal's Message

Welcome to the spring semester of the 2025–2026 school year at Alfred B. Nobel Charter Middle School. My name is Nidhi Batra, and I am honored and excited to serve the Nobel community as your new principal. Nobel’s rich legacy of excellence, strong traditions, and vibrant Nighthawk spirit are well known, and I look forward to building on the strong foundation our students, families, staff, and educational partners have created together.

With over two decades in education at both the middle school and college levels, I have served as an educator and leader in roles including department chair, coordinator, and administrator. My leadership is grounded in high expectations, strong systems, and a deep belief that relationships drive results. I am committed to protecting what makes Nobel exceptional while strengthening the systems, opportunities, and supports that help every student thrive.

Nobel is a California Distinguished School recognized district-wide for outstanding academic achievement. Our students demonstrate strong outcomes across English, Mathematics, and Science, and they benefit from exceptional programs such as the Mathematics, Science, and Technology Magnet Center and the School for Advanced Studies. Nobel’s strong attendance reflects something we value deeply. Students want to be here because they feel engaged, supported, and proud to be Nighthawks.

At Nobel, our mission and vision are grounded in Learning by Doing. Through hands-on learning, students are encouraged to look, listen, and discover as they ask meaningful questions and solve real-world problems. This approach builds curiosity, perseverance, and self-efficacy so students grow into ethical, responsible, and productive members of their local and global communities.

The middle school years are a time of tremendous growth, and we make the transition into middle school smooth and supportive, especially for sixth graders, while ensuring every student is both challenged and cared for. Nobel offers rigorous core instruction along with a wide array of electives, enrichment, clubs, leadership, and schoolwide activities that build friendships and belonging. We celebrate scholarship through the Medalist’s Society and the Principal’s Honor Roll, and students can also access tutoring supports and our Beyond the Bell and Woodcraft Rangers program.We honor academic excellence through the Medalist’s Society and the Principal’s Honor Roll, while providing extended growth opportunities through Tutoring, Beyond the Bell, and Woodcraft Rangers programs and enrichment classes/clubs.

Family partnership is essential to Nobel’s success, and Nobel has a proud tradition of strong parent involvement. We are grateful for our award-winning PTSA and our engaged families. I encourage you to stay connected through Charter Council, School Site Council, the English Learner Advisory Council, Magnet Advisory, SAS and GATE meetings, the Parent Involvement Committee, BSAP Parent Advisory, and PTSA.
