Assignment
Physical Activity Log to be included in your thematic portfolio.
On Friday, a weekend physical activity log (Saturday/Sunday) was provided and also a weekday physical activity log (Monday - Thursday on a two-sided sheet & Friday on one sheet).
This is due on Friday, April 4th. This means that Friday's log may only have activity from before school.
Things to remember.
- A Calorie is a unit of energy.
- Use the provided table or available technology to estimate the Calories you expend (use or burn) for your physical activity.
- Use the comment section to write interesting things.
- Circle "not easily measured" if you cannot find a number of Calories for a certain activity (you have homework from other classes also and you should not spend excessive time looking for this information on the Internet).
- The purpose of this assignment is to find out what you typically do and what your physical activity patterns are (don't do extra physical activity because I gave you this assignment).

Please note: This quiz will be a large portion of the 5-week progress report.
This information on this quiz is very important. We are working toward your 2-week fitness plan that will be due at the end of May (for your final report card).
Quiz: Muscle strengthening, bone strengthening, aerobic physical activity.
In addition, know how to determine you minimal standard (zone) for physical activity and your optimal functioning (zone) for physical activity. We did this in class.
Here are the steps:
Step 1: Convert your weight in pounds to kilograms.
Step 2: Multiply your weight in kilograms by 3 Calories and by 4 Calories (This is the minimal standard, we could call it your the minimal physical activity zone).
Step 3: Multiply your weight in kilograms by 6 Calories and by 8 Calories (This is for optimal functioning, we could call it your optimal functioning physical activity zone).
Step 4: Set a goal. Based on your fitness level, should you be shooting for the minimal physical activity standard/zone or optimal functioning/zone? Should you maintain where you are at or use the principal of progressive overload?
