Students Run LA

Students Run LA (SRLA) began in 1988 with three LAUSD high school teachers. After thirty-one years, they are still very involved in the program.

SRLA is a non-profit after school running program for middle and high school students across the greater Los Angeles area. While running is the core activity of the program, SRLA students learn to set and achieve goals, gain confidence, and develop life-long healthy habits.

Coach Coyle and Coach Wyse started SRLA at Nobel in 2008. Mrs. Fuentes and Mrs. Mandl joined the program in 2015, and are very involved in running with and mentoring our students toward achieving their goal of completing the Los Angeles Marathon.

We run two days a week after school and meet every Saturday at Woodley Park in the Sepulveda Dam Basin for our longer runs. SRLA provides students with the experience of being a part of a team without the pressure of having to be a “fast” runner. Our motto is “my race, my pace,” and we encourage students to find a running pace that they are physically comfortable with sustaining for a long distance. Though some students run faster than others, we all support and encourage each other on our SRLA team. We don’t consider our runs “training,” rather, we “run for fun!”

Look for us after school on Mondays and Thursdays as we enjoy our run together around the neighborhood.
